Simplicity, colour and value. These are the three core values that leading global coatings company AkzoNobel is promising Australians with the launch of Wanda, its new value segment car refinish system.
After months of anticipation, Wanda is finally available down under, featuring a market leading compact colour matching system with the reliability that only AkzoNobel, the largest coatings company in the world, can provide.
Officially launched in late April at the Waterview Convention Centre in Sydney, Barry Edney, Head of Marketing and Strategic Sales for AkzoNobel Automotive and Aerospace Coatings, Asia Pacific told the audience that Wanda is a splash of colour in the often monotone world of automotive refinish systems.
“With Wanda, we’ve taken all of our knowledge and expertise from our other leading global automotive refinish brands including Sikkens and Lesonal, and developed a complete value offering for those looking for our renowned quality and reliability at a lower price point,” he said.
“The Australian auto refinish market is very segmented, and we saw that there was a great opportunity to compete in the mid value segment.
“We’re proud that our system is one of the most compact on the market, requiring far less shelving space and lower inventory. Wanda presents a simplified approach for mixing ratios of clear, primer and 2K colour and utilizes a universal hardener. The total system consists of less than 85 SKUs, including basecoat and single stage toners as well as ancillaries.”
One of Wanda’s greatest strengths is its comprehensive colour matching system. Not all paints are created equal, and many automotive aftermarket refinish manufacturers struggle to keep up to date with colour variances over time.
“Wanda’s colour matching system is simply unparalleled,” said Mr Edney. “Wanda’s system features a wide range of up-to-date prime and variant colours, easy-to-use comprehensive colour documentation tools and an easy-to-use colour retrieval program; WandaColor. With our global R&D support, extensive database, and comprehensive documentation, we’re able to deliver unmatched quality and accuracy in colour matching”.
WandaColor,, allows users to obtain accurate, up-to-date formulas and information for colour matching. The WandaColor program is available for owners of the Wanda refinish system , with periodic color updates issued throughout the year, ensuring that spray painters always have up-to-datetools on hand to help them do their job to the highest standards.
Wanda has been a growing global brand for over 78 years, offering durable, simple to use products since being founded in Brazil in 1934 by Mr. Roque Montesano, who named the brand after his daughter Wanda, also born that year. Wanda was acquired by AkzoNobel in 1974 and is now distributed throughout Australia, North America, Canada, South and Latin America, the Caribbean and Indonesia.
Wanda has already made an appearance as the official paint supplier for the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series, with a Wanda branded ute racing in the first two rounds of the 2012 series; the Adelaide Clipsal 500 and the Symmons Plains Tasmanian Challenge.
Wanda will be available from a number of distributors throughout Australia’s eastern seaboard. To register your interest to become a distributor, visit www.wandarefinish.com.au or call 03 9644 1711.
