Paraplegic race car driver, professional rower and Spinal Cure Australia Ambassador, Matt Speakman, was invited to be a guest motivational speaker at the Wallabies Classic Luncheon.
Paralysed from the waist down, Speakman was left with a severe spinal cord injury after a drunk driver struck his motorcycle in 1993 and killed his passenger.
Speakman is currently aligned with Spinal Cure Australia, and has worked to raise awareness for this charity. Spinal Cure Australia was founded in 1994, with the aim of finding a cure for spinal cord injury through the promotion and funding of medical research.
Speakman has previously competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup with McElrea Racing, and is one of very few people in the world to race with paralysis. He is also planning to kayak in the 2016 Paralympics.
DBC2 are assisting Matt Speakman with the pursuit of becoming a professional motivational speaker, to help attract racing sponsors and add value to sponsorship arrangements.
