DBC2’s amazing new Ford Mustang project car 1LITGT has experienced its first taste of the quarter mile, as part of its transformation from standard road car to highly modified head turning muscle car.
On a balmy Friday evening after work recently, the DBC2 team headed down to Calder Park Raceway with the Mustang for some team bonding and to obtain some baseline performance times before things get more serious. And by serious we mean a Herrod Performance Supercharger Kit and a whole host of other modifications to the brakes, suspension, body and much more.
Amongst a sea of over 150 home grown Aussie V8 muscle cars, tuned up Euro’s, Skylines and Rotaries, our ‘Grubber Blue’ Mustang was the only of its kind of the night and drew plenty of attention from competitors and the crowd alike.
With only two runs for the evening to work out the best way to launch the car, and our PR Manager Jos Roder behind the wheel, 1LITGT obtained two 13.9 second times at a best speed of 107mph (173km/h). Jos noted that there was at least a few more tenths with a better launch…. if only we could have had a third run!
Those times are set to tumble though, as we finish writing this article we have just learned that 1LITGT has just come out of the dyno cell with its new Supercharger package! What’s the power figure??? Drum roll….. 447kw’s (600hp) at the wheels!
Stay tuned for our next instalment when we go through the full modification list of what is now officially one lit GT!
